In partnership with Cobb County Police Department, we target apartment complexes that are underserved and have issues which require regular visits from officers
We host events where we have a cookout for the residents, DJ and music, face painting for the little ones, and a Corn Hole competition between the cops and the kids
We have our POPP student-athletes from participating schools compete against officers from the Police Athletic League
We have found that when you compete with a rival in a positive environment, and get close enough to actually see the other, it’s much harder to hate them. These events are a win-win-win for the kids, the cops, and the community
Cops and Kids Mentoring Program
In partnership with Cobb County Juvenile Court and Cobb County Police Department we pair kids under court supervision for felony charges with officers from the Police Athletic League in a mentoring relationship
We utilize POPP curriculum to help officers better understand today’s youth, and for both sides to begin to see one another differently
Officers commit to staying with the kids until they earn their diploma or GED
